 AMERICAN ASTRONAUTICAL SOCIETY

The American Astronautical Society (AAS) is the leading organization in the United States exclusively devoted to the advancement of space science and exploration. AAS members include individual scientists, engineers, administrators and attorneys, as well as institutions and corporations, Each year, the society hosts a number of technical conferences on astrodynamics, guidance, navigation, and control, and workshops on space policy and law.

AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS AND ASTRONAUTICS (AIAA)

The AIAA is the world's leading professional society in the broad areas of aeronautics and astronautics, and the preeminent worldwide aerospace information resource.

The mission of the AIAA is to serve the profession, and to benefit the Institute's individual members and member institutions. The Institute addresses the needs of scientists, engineers and allied professionals who conceive, design, develop, test, construct, and operate air and space vehicles, their associated systems and subsystems, as well as the educators who train the professionals, researchers who continuously renew the technology, managers who lead their efforts, and innovators who bring forth new concepts.

AMERICAN HELICOPTER SOCIETY (AHS)

The professional society for the advancement of vertical flight technology and its useful application throughout the world.

AHS International is the world's premier professional vertical flight society. Since its inception in 1944, AHS has been a major force in the advancement of a global rotorcraft industry, marked by rapid technical developments and expanding military capabilities and commercial applications. The strength of AHS as a professional and technical society is its diverse international professional and corporate membership. The aim of the society is not only to emphasise and further engineering excellence in traditional rotorcraft platform disciplines, but to expand this focus to the multidisciplinary fields of vertical flight and the related support industries. The AHS is a leader of the vertical flight community. By supporting the needs of today's vertical flight industry and advocating the requirements for tomorrows industry, the AHS will benefit both military and commercial sectors of the rotorcraft industry.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR ENGINEERING EDUCATION (ASEE)

ASEE, which celebrated its centennial in 1993, plays a pivotal role in developing programs and policies that will enable engineering education and allied branches of science and technology to meet the challenges of global competition. ASEE's membership represents all disciplines of engineering and engineering technology. Its 10,000 individual members include deans, department heads, faculty, graduate students, and corporate and government representatives. Its organizational membership comprises more than 350 engineering and engineering technology colleges and affiliates, more than 100 corporations, and numerous government agencies and professional associations. ASEE provides a valuable link among educational institutions, corporations, and government agencies, establishing a unique forum for ongoing dialogue within and between these groups.

THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY (APS)

The American Physical Society is an organization of more than 41,000 physicists worldwide. Since its formation in 1899, it has been dedicated to the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics. The APS publishes some of the world's leading physics research journals: the Physical Review series, Physical Review Letters, and Reviews of Modern Physics. It organizes scientific meetings where new results are reported and discussed. In addition to these primary functions, the Society has many other programs in areas such as education, international affairs, public affairs and public information.
THE SOCIETY FOR INDUSTRIAL AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS (SIAM)

Inspired by the vision that applied mathematics should play an important role in advancing science and technology in the industry, a small group of professionals from academy and industry met in Philadelphia in 1951 to start an organization whose members would meet periodically to exchange ideas about the uses of mathematics in industry. This meeting led quickly to the organization of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERS, INC. (IEEE)

The world's largest technical professional society -- promoting the development and application of electrotechnology and allied sciences for the benefit of humanity, the advancement of the profession, and the well-being of our members.
THE WORLD'S COMPUTER SOCIETY

The Computer Society's vision is to be the leading provider of technical information and services to the world's computing professionals. In November of 1994, the Board of Governors of the IEEE Computer Society adopted a Strategic Plan that positions the society to effectively face the new millennium. The plan identifies 38 strategic objectives that will be an carried out by the governing boards, volunteers and staff of the society.
